Most Unique Business
Which teams business was the most unique? Post up your votes. Winner will receive five bonus points and you cannot vote for your own group.
Business Presentation
Your group will also present your business to the class. To do this you will create a PowerPoint presentation to discuss the main points of your business plan and you will also demo your website for the class. For this assignment you need to....
1. Gave a minimum of 6 PowerPoint slides for each of the 6 steps in your business plan.
2. Explain your product or service, as well as your goals as a business.
3. Test your website to make sure that all your page links work before presenting to the class.
4. Make sure that each group member has an equal part in the presentation.
5. Dress professionally. Minimum of khakis and button up shirt for guys. Girls should have business appropriate dresses, dresses, skirt and blouse, or pants suit.
Creating a Website
After we have written a business plan you will then create a website for your business using Microsoft Publisher or Adobe Dreamweaver. I will instruct the class on how to use Publisher but if you are comfortable with Dreamweaver feel free to use it. Here are some things to think about when creating your website....
1. Your website should be easy to navigate. Surfers should be able to reach any page on your website in 3 to 4 clicks.
2. Select your background and text colors wisely. If people cannot read the words on your website because they blend in with the background, they will not be on your site for very long.
3. NO SPELLING OR GRAMMAR ERRORS! This website represents you, so check and double check for these possible errors.
4. Make sure when someone looks at your homepage that they can easily see who you are, what products or services you offer, and how to contact you.
Writing a Business Plan
As I mentioned in the previous post you will be writing a business plan for the business idea that you and your partner have came up with. A business plan is really when the idea for your business and your business practices starts to take shape. So it is important to take your time as you work through the steps. The steps of a business plan are listed below...
1. Executive Summary
2. Market Analysis
3. Company Description
4. Organization & Management
5. Marketing & Sales Management
6. Service or Product Line
7. Funding Request
8. Financials
For the purposes of this class we will only be writing the first six steps of the business plan because the funding request and financials portions can be quite tedious and take a very long time. Refer to the U.S. Small Business Administration link to learn more about the 8 steps of the business plan.
New Business Ideas
In our newest project you will be in groups of two in which you will be required to create an an idea for a new business. You will then have to write a business plan for that business and then present it to the class. Some things to think about when brainstorming ideas for your business...

1. Think of business ideas that align with your interest. Are you interested in sports, music, pets, food and beverage industry, etc?
2. What will the name of your business be? It shouldn't be too long, long business names are hard to remember.
3. What product are you going to sell? Is it going to be one product or multiple products?
4. What makes you unique versus your competition? Why are people going to buy a certain product from you instead of your competitor? Really think about this and think of something that will really make you unique.
Be thinking of these questions by yourself and with your group member that I have given you. Look at the links I have posted on this page to give you some ideas.
After you decided on your business idea each group post up the name of your business and what your business will do.
Is your logo or trademark easily recognized?
